Katherine Riley Selected as CVU Principal

We are pleased to announce that Katherine Riley has been selected as Principal for Champlain Valley Union High School, pending board approval. Since stepping into the interim role last July, Katherine has demonstrated the qualities that make her the right fit to lead CVU and its community of 1,300 learners.

Drawing from more than two decades as a teacher, curriculum director, and house director at CVU, Katherine brings a deep understanding of how people learn and a focus on the systems that sustain a school. At her core, she possesses the most important trait of a school leader: a warm, authentic care for students and the people at the heart of a learning organization.

As Katherine recently shared, she enjoys the bigger systems thinking and the ability to support learning that honors each student’s pathway, so that everyone feels a sense of belonging while developing their own unique direction. Most importantly, she has been able to do this systems-focused work while remaining connected to students.

Please join us in welcoming Katherine to this permanent role. We also want to thank the hiring committee of staff, faculty, students, and members of the community and school board for their involvement in this process and for your work in selecting a compassionate, innovative, and dedicated leader for CVU.
